Mathematics - Profile

Government Degree College, Pithapuram was established in 2008 and commenced the academic activities with 4 programs namely BA (EHP), BSc (MPC), BSC (Zoology) and BCom (General).  Sri P Raja Gopal was the first Principal (Incharge) of the college and Sri K Madhusudhan Reddy was the first regular Principal of the college. Later the program of BCom (Computer Applications) was introduced in the academic year 2020-21. The college initially accommodated in the campus of RRBhR Government Junior College, Pithapuram and later shifted to new and own premises near Padagaya Temple in December 2024.

Currently the college is offering 5 Undergraduate programs in Single Major System namely BA (Economics), BSc(Chemistry), BSc(Zoology), BCom (Computer Applications) and BSc (Computer Science) with sanctioned intake of 220 and student strength of 340. Over a period of time the college has achieved good results in serving the higher education needs of Pithapuram and surrounding mandals and has been a favourite among the students of this area.

With the relocation of the college to new and own premises in December 2024, the college has witnessed overwhelming support from the local companies and philanthropists and progressing fast in the development path. Department of mathematics is a part and partial of government degree college since 2008. Chronology of lecturers worked/ working since 2008 are

1.K Bhanu,MSc., worked as lecturer in mathematics from 2008 to July 2016

2.Y Padmaja,MSc,MPhil as lecturer in mathematics from 2016 to 2021 October

3.Dr. M Sri Kameswara Rao,M.Sc.,NET(LS), B.Ed.,HDST,M.Phil,Ph.D,DBH(Praveena) has been working as lecturer in mathematics since 2021.
