Strengths of the Zoology Department

1. Strategic Location:

   • Situated in East Godavari district, which is abundant in aquaculture and nursery units, providing students with excellent opportunities for hands-on training and research.

2. Industry-Oriented Curriculum with 6 months dedicated Internship

   • The department focuses on  skill development during 6 months dedicated Internship  relevant to aquaculture, fisheries, and Clinical Science, addressing local employment needs.

3. Opportunities for Field-Based Learning:

   • Proximity to aquaculture and fisheries industries allows students to engage in real-world applications, internships, and research projects.The students are provided with 2 months short term Internship at Satya Scanning center, Pithapuram

4. New Infrastructure Development:

   • The college relocated to a new campus on December 11, 2024, allowing for better facilities, expansion, and academic growth.

Achievements

Achievements of the Zoology Department

1. Establishment of the Zoology Laboratory:

   • Despite limited resources, the department has gradually procured essential equipment, enabling students to engage in practical experiments and research.

2. Enhanced Academic Environment Post-Relocation:

   • The shift to a new campus in 2024 has provided better infrastructure and a more conducive learning environment for students and faculty.

3. Promotion of Environmental Awareness:

   • Through curricular and extracurricular activities, the department encourages students to participate inDebates, Project Based Learning, Seminars, Peer learning, Group discussions .

4. Internship Programs for Practical Learning:

   • 2023-2024: A 6-month internship was provided at nearby Government Veterinary Dispensaries, where students gained practical experience in animal husbandry and veterinary science.

   • 2024-2025: A short-term internship was arranged at Satya Scan, Pithapuram, where students learned clinical diagnostic techniques such as blood tests, dengue, typhoid, and HIV testing, along with fundamental concepts of clinical science.
